What Is a Vacation, Really?
As we prepare for the final bits of our upcoming trip — and describe to friends and family what we are doing — it becomes clear that there’s a disconnect between the traditional definition of ‘vacation’ vs. what we are about to go do.
If you’ve read any of our previous blog posts, you’ve
probably noticed that our idea of a vacation doesn’t usually involve lounging
on a beach with a cocktail in hand. Don’t get me wrong — we enjoy a beautiful
beach as much as anyone. But think about it: that kind of trip doesn’t leave

our comfort zone, feel most alive when pushing our capabilities, and take pride
in the sense of accomplishment it brings.
To add some fun, we have new recruits joining us in our adventure:
our brother and sister-in-law Scott and Jeannette. Not even hesitating, they were all in from
the start, responding “You only live once!”
I won’t spoil the surprise now; you’ll have to check back in with the blog to find out what crazy thing we are up to now. I’ll give you a hint … Greg started packing and this was what he prioritized:
So while we are not headed off on a “vacation” in the traditional sense…we hope you join us on our journey via this blog — an escape, a shift in perspective. It is exactly why we travel.
